First Visit

Your initial appointment will always consist of a consulation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Usually, treatment can be started the same as the consultation and even finished; however, with certain diagnoses or treatment options, we are required to delay starting treatment, or finish at a second appointment.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your treatment referral slip and any X-rays if applicable
  • A list of medications you are currently taking
  • If you have medical or dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms or ensure our office has the appropriate information. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.

A pre-operative consultation and physical examination is mandatory for patients undergoing oral sedation prior to treatment. Please have nothing to eat or drink 6 hours prior to your appointment. You will also need an adult to drive you home.

Then on the day of treatment with oral sedation, please alert the office if you have a major medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment such as any conditioin that normally requires the use of pre-treatment antibiotics (i.e. artificial heart valves and joints, etc.) or if you are on any medication that increases the risk of bleeding (i.e. aspirin, Plavix, Ticlid, etc.)

IT IS NOT NECESSARY FOR EVERY PATIENT TO TAKE ANTIBIOTICS OR OTHER MEDICATION PRIOR TO THEIR ENDODONTIC APPOINTMENT. The doctors' office staff will instruct you if any pre-treatment medication is necessary.

X-Rays

If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If your x-rays were taken digitally, they can simply be emailed to us or sent to us via an online referral form. Otherwise, they may be given to you at the time of the referral, or you can pick them up and bring them to our office. In addition to these x-rays we normally require x-rays to confirm your diagnosis. We take radiation safety seriously and limit your exposure to the least of amount of necessary radiation. We use lead aprons and also use digital radiography which greatly reduces the amount of radiation needed.
