Michou Tran Shell, DDS
Dr. Michou Tran Shell was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and her family immigrated to the country in 1975. She grew up in Merkel, Texas, and graduated from Merkel High School in 1991 as valedictorian. She is a 1995 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she earned her B.A. in Biology with high honors (magna cum laude) and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa the following year.
She earned her D.D.S. degree in 2000 from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio Dental School (UTHSCSA) where she graduated summa cum laude and became a member of the dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. At the time of her matriculation into dental school, UTHSCSA was ranked as the #1 dental program in the nation. After graduating, Dr. Tran entered the endodontic residency program at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville, Florida, where she obtained her certificate in Endodontics in 2002. She moved back to San Antonio, Texas, in the summer of 2002 to join a private endodontic practice in San Antonio. In 2004, Dr. Tran and her husband, Dr. Jeff Shell, opened Westlake Endodontics, P.A. in Austin, TX.
Dr. Tran is currently a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists, a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association as well as the Capital Area Dental Society. She is a member of the Junior League of Austin, the Women’s Symphony League of Austin and the Women of Austin dental society. She and her husband are proud parents of two daughters, Sloane and Sutton.
As of March, 2020, Dr. Tran has stepped away from the practice of dentistry to focus on her health and family.
